Nothing like a little hike and mini-engagement session in Santa Barbara! Aside from the 90 degree heat, the Sun and settings were beautiful. We got some great sun kissed photos among the rubble of Knapp's Castle. Easy to say we can not wait to hang with these two next summer!
Such a blast this past Saturday with Christina and Roberto! A little hotter then usual in Santa Barbara, but it worked out great with an indoor ceremony at the Presidio State Historic Park and right when it cooled off we went outside to the Casa de la Guerra. I have to say they had a strong dancing presence the whole reception! So much fun! Here is their day of slideshow from Saturday!
A throw back to last year :) when Christine and Vince got married on 7/6/2013. We first met Christine and Vince and their dog at Pelermo Coffee on Main Street in Ventura. It was a great first meeting and we got a lot of things figured out - but I remember it seeming like their wedding would be pretty low key. Much to our surprise when we show up to capture their day - it was nothing but. Christine and Vince did a great job picking their them, decor and of course vendors. :) From the sweet getting ready atmosphere down to the harlem shake attacks at the reception - it was an awesome day to be apart of. This was our first time shooting at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum - which is a great setting to have your one spot wedding and reception. And the day went off with out a hitch thanks to Cassidy Rae Events. And a big thanks to Peter Kappen for second shooting, as Courtney was taking care of our 2 week old at this time. Crazy how time flies!
We love showing photos from the day at the reception! Its instant gratification at its finest! :) Its also a great way for people to see what the day looked like for you.
It's another TBT! Here is Matt and Danielle's engagement session in Santa Barbara from December 2012, believe it or not. We spend the day in some of Matt and Danielle's favorite spots in Santa Barbara. Starting at the Funk Zone downtown, then to Alameda Park and ended at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. You might have seen some of these when we posted the teaser photos the day of the shoot. I love that Danielle wanted to have their dog Harlo involved in their session. It was an awesome idea and we had so much fun involving their "baby". Harlo was such a stud and Matt and Danielle are obviously a beautiful couple and made our job easy! Thanks to Harlo, the photo that says, "my humans are getting married" went viral and even published! :) This session was such a great precursor to what would be one of our favorite weddings from 2013, which we will share soon!
Kent and Janine were married in an amazing little church just steps from the beach in Santa Barbara called All Saints-by-the-Sea. From the very first dinner we had together - cooked by Kent himself and absolutely delicious - we got along great and we're able to hear all about their vision for their day. These two put a lot of hard work into their wedding day and it was amazing to see it all come together. Kent prepared ALL the food for the reception - awesome, but also crazy. :) And Janine spent hours upon hours making hundreds of paper flowers for their table decor. These were just a few things they worked so hard on, but the best part about their day was to see them completely in awe of each other. Their reception held at the Rockwood Santa Barbara women's club was the perfect setting for their party.
In the heart of catching up with past weddings - why not join the throw back Thursday crowd. Here is Jeremy and Vienna's wedding, some really good friends of ours in the midwest. Love these guys - and their style :) From Vienna's brooch bouquet to Jeremy's perfect fit suit and hair, these two were a blast to photograph. With some creative locations like the parking garage of the Church to the forest arboretum - we got some pretty unique photos. Love you guys and wish you the best!
We have a lot of weddings to catch up on! But just had to post this one sooner then later. Erica and Eric and a beautiful wedding on the beach in Santa Monica, CA right next to the famous pier. They couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day or setting. With their ceremony right in front of Shutters on the Beach and reception inside - it made for the perfect surroundings. We couldn't be more happy with the quality of photos we were able to capture that day! It of course helps that the couple is madly in love and looked amazing! A big congrats to you both!
Courtney and I met Julissa and Oscar at the Simply the Best bridal show in Santa Barbara last year. You might recognize them from their engagement session we shot last spring. We met for coffee right after the brial show and they booked us on the spot. Needless to say they had ultimate trust in us - which makes our job so much easier :). Julissa and Oscar were amazing their whole wedding day - big smiles.. a lot of love and tons of laughs. Oscar made me (Dustin) cry during the ceremony as he shared his vows as Julissa wiped his tears. Surrounded by tons of family and friends made the reception a huge party that would make any photographer wish he could put the camera down. So thankful for Oscar and Julissa giving us the opportunity to be apart of their day and treating us like family! We are so happy with the way their photos turned out!
So we started the day finding out that our contact page has not been working! We know this is usually a good first touch from you brides out there to get ahold of us - so we wanted to apologize for not getting back to you if you had tried to use it! Luckily someone reached out to us by phone so we know that works! :) So in the mean time while we try to figure this out - please shoot us an email at weddings@dustinwaller.com or give us a ring at 805-765-2860! We look forward to hearing from you all! Thanks!

We are continually catching up on this past summers weddings... :) Heres Courtney and Eric's wedding at the Prairie Street Brew House in Rockford, IL. They had their beautiful wedding on the deck of the old brewery building right along the Rock River, with the skyline of Rockford in the background. The thing with midwest weddings is they yield such a wide variety of possibilites from rain, thunderstorms, snow, fog and of course intense heat in the summer. For Courtney and Eric's wedding it was a heat index of 100 degrees with few clouds in site. But it wasn't just the heat that made the day interesting. Due to some recent construction on the Brew House there was some unseen wear and tear on the deck which caused it to sink down a few inches(it was completely safe :) as the wedding began. Things calmed down and the wedding continued - but what amazed me was Courtney's composure through the whole day. From fighting the heat and pushing thru the deck sinking, she rocked a great smile and was extremely happy through the whole day. A testament to her love for Eric and excitement to marry her best friend. They both also had amazing support from their bridal party. Their bridal party had the energy and love that made it the picturesque group that we love to capture. When it came to photos outside they were so optimistic, willing and just a outgoing group of people. We didn't have to go to far to find some sweet spots around the Prairie Street Brew House for the bridal party photos and then with the great tact of the groomsman, they had someone bring a car around for Courtney.
The day ended with a great reception inside at the Prairie Street Brew House with lighting and DJ'ing by my good friends company Luxe Production's. From the speeches to the dancing you continued to see the connection and love that all the family and friends had for each other. The final event for the day was the releasing of lanterns down on the dock by the river. The scene was amazing, as if it was out of the movie Tangled. We had such a great time with everybody at this wedding! Definitely looking forward to shooting one of the brides maids wedding this coming Summer! ~ D

When Ray & I got engaged we had already been dating for almost two years and were so ready to be married. We started looking at options for a local wedding, although we really didn’t want to spend another year or so planning our wedding. Everything started adding up quickly and we realized that we would either have to compromise on the number of friends and family we could invite, or be forced to push out the wedding several months. We didn’t feel that either of those options was viable, nor did I feel like I ‘needed’ the big wedding. At the end of the day, the most important thing to us was to be together, and we didn’t want to spend our time wrapped up in wedding planning for the next several months. We wanted the focus to remain on our relationship and each other, and we wanted a ceremony that was true to who we are – a couple whose love for each other is the most important part of us. With all of that in mind, we decided to scrap the local wedding and sneak away to the San Diego, CA area, where Ray used to live. We only told (and invited) immediate family and kept it a secret from everyone else until we returned from our honeymoon (kudos to our families for keeping it under their hats for so long). I loved the idea of getting married under the radar and sharing that private moment with only our families. It was the first idea we’d had that I was absolutely sure of, and once we decided that was our plan, everything started falling into place. We chose the Del Mar/Solana Beach area for its beautiful beaches with large coastal bluffs, which provided a gorgeous backdrop for our day. We didn’t know what our specific wedding location would be until we arrived there a few days prior, but we found the perfect spot where the bluffs cut in from the ocean; it was just right. We had rented an oceanfront condo on a cliff, which turned out to have these amazingly rusted steps down to the beach; we couldn’t have planned that location better and just knew it would be an awesome spot for photos. I didn’t have a specific color palette but wanted to use colors that would complement the setting, so I chose a deep blue J. Crew dress for my sisters, along with different pearl necklaces for each of their unique styles; Ray chose various colorful neckties from The Tie Bar for the guys. I purchased gorgeous blue Badgley Mischka shoes (my ‘something blue’) – by far my favorite wedding purchase. Since I didn’t wear them on the beach my sister stitched our wedding date (in blue thread) into the bottom of my gown…one of my favorite personal touches. I borrowed my friend Lindsay’s pearl J. Crew necklace, which she wore in her wedding, and my ‘something old’ was a vintage pearl ring from my mom. A friend led me to Franco’s Flowers where we found the most unique, bright and beautiful flowers that went perfectly with the colors we had already chosen. Franco’s was so helpful & efficient and I was able to pick out exactly which flowers I wanted.Ray & I had agreed that having amazing photos was one of, if not the, most important aspects of the entire wedding experience, and I was thrilled with our photographers. Dustin & Courtney of Waller Wedding Photography are not only incredibly talented photographers, but they’re good friends that we’ve known for years and it was so fun to have them spend the day with us. I couldn’t be happier with our photos and how they so perfectly captured the love, joy and emotion of our day. Our wedding day was everything I wanted it to be. It was low-key and non-stressful and I loved spending the morning with my sisters, mom and brother (hairstylist extraordinaire), drinking mimosas and getting ready. When I finally got to walk down that long rusty staircase to see Ray for the first time it was the absolute best moment of the day. Our ceremony was personal and emotional, and we both laughed and cried as we said our vows. I loved all of the personal touches in our ceremony...my brother Brandon played guitar and my sister Katrina sang Cat Power’s “Sea of Love” as I walked down the sand ‘aisle’ on my dad’s arm. Our good friend Chad married us and our parents gathered around and prayed for us after we took communion together. I’m so thankful to have had such a wonderful experience. It was the perfect day and I wouldn’t change anything about it.After our first meeting with Eric and Lisa this Spring all I could think was these guys are totally cool, calm and collective. Mainly because they booked us just weeks before their wedding and the time crunch didn’t faze them one bit. Which I totally love and admire since I am a planner to the bone. The more we got to know them and hear about their wedding day we knew this was going to be an amazing way to start our California wedding adventure.Lisa loves the history and style of the 1930’s, Eric is a true handyman and this wedding became a meaningful family/friends DIY project. Friends made the ring pillows and party favors, Lisa’s older sister made the wedding cake and her younger sister helped make the bouquets and wreaths by plucking lavender and greenery straight from Lisa’s backyard! Most impressive was that Lisa made her own 1930’s inspired wedding dress. Sewing is a family tradition, as her grandma, mom, sister and cousin all made their own dresses. We were so impressed and it turned out beautifully! Naturally we fell in love with their love for eachother, family and creativity. They were a blast and we couldn’t have been happier to get our first taste of California weddings with Eric and Lisa.
Much love, Courtney
